Summary

In an increasingly diverse and connected society, it seems that we still do not know those around us. Thus arises the project "Entre Tabues" with the aim of raising awareness and giving a voice to those who usually do not have it. We seek to give visibility to minority groups in order to promote their integration. The project has so far interviewed 3 people who are part of groups that for some reason are minority and unknown to a large part of society, a HIV-positive person, a sex worker and a non-binary person. Through these interviews we seek to destigmatize and connect the public with the realities of these people. My aim is generating a feeling of empathy and unity among all kinds of people because despite the circumstances we are all humans. We have managed to bring these stories to more than 1.9 million people on TikTok, more than 60K on Instagram and more than 200 people on Spotify. Dozens of positive comments and lots of support and feedback

IMPACT STORY

Impacting lifes

After publishing the first interview (Interview with the HIV-positive person) I received dozens of comments and requests for help from people living with HIV and experiencing discrimination. One such story is that of a woman who contracted HIV and was trying to take out a mortgage. The woman was forced to take out life insurance along with the mortgage. The problem was the high life insurance premium she had to pay because of her HIV status.
She wrote to me for help and I was lucky enough to be able to help her. I contacted the legal clinic at my university, Clinica Legal UAH, and was able to put her in touch with law students who were able to help her and were able to get her a fair mortgage.
And this is not the only case, I received many more similar cases. People who were denied tattoos, immigrants who came to Spain and didn't know how to get their medication... I am glad and proud to have been able to help them to solve these discriminations.

LEARNINGS

Lessons learned

Some of the advice I can give after having organised several projects and ventures are:
- Be disciplined, create weekly goals, organise yourself, follow up on your tasks
- Have a team committed to the project. It is better to have a small but effective team than a large but ineffective one.
- Listen to the people around you, ask your friends, ask for feedback.
- Be well informed about what you need for your project and write it down: material, budget, dates, locations.
- Dreaming is important but keeping your feet on the ground is also important. Be aware of your strengths and try to overcome your weaknesses.
- Enjoy not only the results but also the process.
- Be gentle with the people you work with, smile and create a good working atmosphere.

FUTURE PLANS

What's coming?

Our aim is to continue doing interviews and try to broaden our reach and raise awareness among as many people as possible.
To achieve this we are looking for funding to buy a camera so that we don't have to rent audiovisual material.
We believe that as soon as we have the material we will be able to scale up the project and increase the number of interviews and people involved.
To get this funding we are looking for people committed to these causes who can help us or public or private institutions interested in the project.
